Internships and careers with Fund for the Public Interest

Subject: Job Opportunities Making Social Change (Summer and Career)

Hey! My name is Dan DeRosa. I graduated from Rutgers in 2010 and have since been working as a Field Organizer with the Fund for the Public Interest and Environment New Jersey. I’ll be back on campus Tuesday-Thursday (March 31-April 2) hiring students to work with us this summer on our campaigns.

Apply now at www.JobsThatMatter.org or call 1-800-75-EARTH today. If you’re graduating, please ask about career opportunities.

The Fund for the Public Interest is a national non-profit organization that works to build support for environmental and social change organizations across the country.  We run campaigns for the Human Rights Campaign, Environment America and PIRG. This summer we will be in over 50 cities, including here in New Jersey in New Brunswick, Summit and Ridgewood working and lobbying to help win environmental and social justice campaigns.

This summer our staff will work to make sure we tackle Global Warming, protect our Clean Water, work to get big money out of politics, label GMO foods and protect our drinking water from Fracking – and build valuable leadership skills along the way. Around the country we’ll work to ban plastic bags, get more clean energy, and protect LGBTQ rights.

Currently, we have paid positions open on our campaign staff in each of our locations.  We require that interested candidates are hard workers and have excellent communication skills.

As a member of our staff, you will fundraise, build membership for our partner groups, and educate and activate citizens on pressing issues. You will also have the opportunity to organize press conferences and build coalitions with other non-profit organizations.  While on staff, you gain knowledge of pressing concerns our country is facing, learn how to effectively generate public support, and obtain a firm understanding of the political process.

We will hold information sessions and interviews at Rutgers on Tuesday-Thursday (March 31-April 2) at 10 AM, 2 PM, 4 PM, 6 PM. We will be at 2 locations each day; come to whichever location and time is most convenient for you.

On Tuesday, March 31 we will have information sessions in the Busch Campus Center Room 117 and Livingston Student Center Room 109.

On Wednesday & Thursday, April 1 and 2 we will have information sessions in the College Avenue Rutgers Student Center Cap and Skull Room 413 and Livingston Student Center Room 109. On Thursday we will have additional 3:00 and 7:00 info sessions.

To find out more and apply, please visit www.JobsThatMatter.org or call 1-800-75-EARTH.

We also have internship opportunities available with Environment America in Trenton, across NJ, and across the country, the deadline to apply is April 11th. You can submit an application at http://www.environmentamerica.org/internships or email dderosa@environmentnewjersey.org.
