SUMMER 2014 PAID INTERNSHIPS
CUES Trenton Field Work Internships
Description: The project goal is to integrate underutilized properties into a healthy Trenton food network in collaboration with Isles Inc., our local non-profit partner.  The summer internships in Trenton, NJ will focus on field survey work in neighborhoods across the city, verifying abandoned property data using GPS. The data collected will be assessed and prepared for data analysis to expand and integrate healthy food options for people living in the Trenton “Food Swamp”.
Qualifications: Successful completion of higher level geomatics course, ability to interact with local community members.
Timing: May 27 through August 22.
CUES Design Internships
The CUES design team is working on several design projects, including parks on Brownfields in Perth Amboy, Voorhees, and Somerville, and regional coastal resiliency planning for Northern New Jersey. The CUES office-based summer internships in Blake Hall on Cook Campus  include:
·       Perth Amboy: field surveys, public outreach, and design development
·       Somerville: design refinement and wet land design development
·       Voorhees: design refinement, preparing designs for detailing by engineers
·       Coastal Resiliency Planning: data collection, verifying existing data, GIS data analysis
Qualifications: Successful completion of higher level design classes, ability to interact with professional engineers and community representatives.
Timing: May 12 through August 22.
