Scholarships







Dear SEBS Students,






The following scholarship (5) links are outside scholarships (not funded by Rutgers) for SEBS students. Also listed below is the Saddle River Garden Club Award information – no link. In the past, some of our SEBS students have been awarded these scholarships. If eligible, I encourage you to apply! Freehold Soil Conservation Scholarships for NJ residents of Middlesex or Monmouth County related majors in fields related to conservation including but not limited to agriculture, conservation studies, environmental education, environmental science, landscape design, forestry, natural resource management, soil science, geology and related areas etc : http://freeholdsoil.org/education/scholarships/






NJ Association Memorial Conservation Scholarships for NJ residents for full-time students in good standing at any New Jersey accredited college, or a resident of New Jersey attending any accredited out-of-state college; Students must also have successfully completed, or will complete by the award date, at least two semesters of study; and be an undergraduate enrolled in a curriculum of agriculture or natural resource conservation including but not limited to: agronomy, conservation, forestry, geography, geography, resource economics and other areas related to conservation may also qualify. http://www.njacd.org/sch.php






Edward R. Hall/Robert R. Hanna Scholarship for full-time students in good standing at any New Jersey accredited college, or a resident of New Jersey attending any accredited out-of-state college; Students must also have successfully completed, or will complete by the award date, at least two semesters of study; and be an undergraduate enrolled in a curriculum related to natural resources including but not limited to: agriculture, agronomy, conservation, ecology, environmental science, fisheries, forestry, geography, journalism, plant science, soil science, and/or wildlife. Other areas related to conservation may also qualify.

Land Conservancy Scholarships for NJ residents; majors in environmental science, natural resource management, conservation, horticulture, park administration or related fields:

NJ Division of the Allegheny SAF scholarship: recognizes outstanding understanding of, and academic excellence in forestry, particularly with reference to students interested in a career in professional resource management (including urban and community forestry).To be eligible, the applicant must be a full-time student in a college located within the State of New Jersey, in his or her junior year, and in a forestry-related major. https://njforests.org/scholarship/


Saddle River Garden Club Awards (Outside of Rutgers Scholarship) (No link – email below to request application)






Each year, the Saddle River Garden Club awards an academic scholarship of $1,000 for the upcoming school year starting in September. 2016 To qualify, an applicant must be a Northwest Bergen County, NJ resident and be an enrolled student studying (ie., a current undergraduate student) or planning to study (ie high school senior with acceptance letter) in qualified field of study.






Applicants must meet the following criteria:


• Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Legal Resident of the United States.


• Must be a resident of Northwest Bergen County, New Jersey. (The 13 municipalities of NW


Bergen County are: Allendale, Franklin Lakes, Glen Rock, Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, Midland Park,


Oakland, Ramsey, Ridgewood, Saddle River, Upper Saddle River, Waldwick and Wyckoff.)


• International or Foreign Exchange Students are not eligible.


• Graduate and Doctoral program students are not eligible.






• Must be enrolled in or attending school full-time as defined by the SRGC:


• Undergraduate students must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 graded hours of classes.


• Must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale).






• Must be planning or pursuing a career related to gardening, landscape design, environmental


issues, floral design or horticulture.


• Must be majoring in one of the following fields of study:


n Agronomy


n Agriculture Education


n Floriculture


n Horticulture


n Landscape Design


n Botany, Biology


n Forestry


n Wildlife Science


n Plant Pathology/Science


n City (Rural & Urban) Planning


n Habitat or Forest/Systems Ecology


n Environmental Concerns (Management: Environmental,


Horticulture Resource/Environmental Behavior)


n Environmental Conservation (inc. Engineering, etc.)


n Land Management and/or other related or allied subjects
