Piping Plover Internship


SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry is seeking volunteer interns for a Ph.D. project investigating the factors limiting abundance and productivity of breeding piping plovers in southern New Jersey. Work will begin mid-April and continue until mid-August. The interns will be responsible for assisting a technician with daily field activities as well as assisting with bird captures. Other duties may include data entry in Microsoft Excel and interaction with public beach visitors. Applicants must have a positive and flexible attitude, be in good physical condition, and have the ability to communicate with the public in a professional and courteous manner. Applicants must have a current valid driver’s license, a reliable personal vehicle for transportation between work sites, and currently reside in south coastal New Jersey. The position will require working long hours, typically 2-3 days per week, depending on applicant availability.
