Job Title Research Technologist - EMBSI

Job Description:

ExxonMobil Biomedical Sciences, Inc. (EMBSI) is ExxonMobil's worldwide technical resource and center of excellence for occupational health and environmental sciences. EMBSI's Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry Laboratory is responsible for conducting ecotoxicology research and testing in support of ExxonMobil's petrochemical products and global operations. EMBSI is currently seeking a research technologist to provide analytical chemistry support for environmental fate and effects studies performed according to OECD and U.S. EPA test guidelines.



The qualified candidate should have a master’s degree in analytical chemistry, environmental chemistry, biochemistry or related field and have a strong record of academic achievement and demonstrated work accomplishments. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree with extensive experience with contemporary analytical instrumentation (gas chromatography, GC-MS, LC-MS), sample introduction techniques (headspace, SPME, large volume injections, thermal desorption) and sample preparation procedures (SPE, accelerated solvent extraction) is required. Previous experience performing trace environmental or biological analyses and maintaining and troubleshooting chromatographic instruments is also required.



The candidate must be highly motivated and be able to develop and apply analytical methods, with minimal supervision, as part of an interdisciplinary laboratory team. Additionally, the candidate is expected to serve as study director for environmental chemistry studies and communicate directly with EMBSI’s staff of environmental scientists and toxicologists. Experience with the principals of Good Laboratory Practices is desired, as well as proficiency with a variety of chromatographic data systems and Microsoft office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). An understanding of environmental toxicology testing is also desired.



The position is located at ExxonMobil's Research and Engineering facility in Clinton, NJ.
