Studay Abroad

Below is a study abroad opportunity.  With this specific program, I can give you credit for experience-based education, Principles of Ecology, and Environmental Law (or other policy course if you are in the policy concentration).  If you are interested in this, come see me to talk about how it would fit into your course of study.

Dear Faculty:

The Institute for Sustainable International Studies offers a variety of conservation and environmental field courses in Belize in the summer and the winter. The courses are held in the field, forests, sea and waterways of this incredible tropical country. Students will be able to experience and understand first-hand the wonders and challenges of different environments. All courses are intensive, delivering 3 credit hours over two weeks. Students can pair another course for a full four weeks studying abroad.

The people of Belize are a fascinating mix of cultures and languages, including the descendants of the ancient Maya, African slaves, Spanish invaders and European buccaneers along with Mennonites, Chinese, East Indians and Lebanese. The cultural exposure while studying with ISIS is a wonderful bonus. For the syllabi and course itineraries, click on the links below:

· Tropical Ecosystems: New Approaches to Sustainability

A two week course is $2,675 and the two course session is $4,225*, and are offered June and July, 2014. These courses are also offered over the winter break, December 26, 2013 – January 7, 2014. Students tell us these courses are “worth every penny!” Transcripts are issued from Sacred Heart College in San Ignacio, Belize or for those students needing transcripts from a US university, click here for details.

For more information email our Program Director, Cynthia Reece, at creece@isisbelize.com. I hope to welcome some of your students to Belize this summer or winter.

Sincerely,

Nancy
