JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Meadowlands Environmental Research Institute (MERI), the scientific arm of the New Jersey Meadowlands Commission, is currently seeking for an entry level Environmental Scientist position. The candidate is expected to have a four year college degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Biology, or related field.
The individual will perform a variety of sampling, extraction and analytical work from surface water, sediments and air matrix. Duties include 1) Semi-volatile organic compounds (PCBs, PAHs, and pesticides) and heavy metal analysis from wastewater, surface water and sediment matrix. 2) Wet Chemistry analysis from air, sediment samples. He/She must be self-motivated and have good verbal and writing communication skills. Experience in data analysis and managing scientific data is a plus.
