The Department of Biochemistry and Microbiology invites faculty, staff, and students to a seminar on
Science Careers
by Dr. Yaihara Fortis Santiago, Ph.D.,
of the New York Academy of Sciences. Dr. Fortis Santiago is neuroscientist, a former AAAS policy fellow, and has worked at the NSF before her leadership as the program manager of the Global Science Alliance at the New York Academy of Sciences. She has a long standing commitment to service and mentoring students in STEM fields. For several years she has worked closely with the Society for Advancing Chicanos/Hispanics and Native American in Sciences (SACNAS) and the non-for profit organization Ciencia Puerto Rico (CienciaPR) to increase the participation of underrepresented minority students in STEM careers.
