Position
Information:
The New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection is seeking a paid summer seasonal to extract relevant data from the
Discharge Prevention, Containment and Countermeasure (DPCC) plans to develop
statistics and analyze the regulated universe of aboveground storage
tanks. Statistics and analysis will
cover the size distribution of the tanks, types of materials stored, and types
and quantities of overfill alarm systems.
This data will be used to determine what type of
periodic testing of alarm systems would be reasonable, considering cost and
effectiveness of testing. The long-term
goal is to prevent overfills of tanks, thus reducing possible environmental
impacts and cleanup costs.
Requirements:
Candidates for this summer seasonal position must
have the following qualifications:

Understanding of basic engineering concepts.

Ability to read and understand technical and
engineering material.

Ability to perform research to determine
relevant material.

Attention to detail.
-
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computers
and use of Windows applications is desired.

Interest in environmental contamination and
statistical analysis.
AUTHORIZATION TO WORK:
Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States according
to the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services Regulations. Note: The State of New Jersey does not
provide sponsorships for citizenships to the United States.
Note: Completion of at least 2 years of
undergraduate education in Chemical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering is
preferred.
