Position Information:
The New Jersey Department of Environmental
Protection is seeking a paid summer seasonal to extract, compile and analyze
relevant economic data and attributes for New Jersey and the regional economy,
related to air quality and attainment of the National Ambient Air Quality
Standards. The project will include a literature review, design and
implementation of a survey instrument, identification of relevant statistics
and metrics, and creation of a conceptual model. Statistics and metrics will
cover specific topics including the cost of purchasing offset allowances or the
cost of avoiding offset requirements, health costs related to air pollution
(e.g., missed work, ER visits, etc.) and costs of environmental damages from
air pollution.
Requirements:
Candidates for this summer seasonal position must
have the following qualifications:

Understanding of basic economic concepts and how
they relate to air pollution
-
Ability to read and understand technical and economic
material
-
Ability to perform research to determine
relevant material

Attention to detail
-
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of computers
and use of Microsoft applications (particularly Excel, Access and PowerPoint)
-
Interest in air pollution and economics/statistical
analysis
AUTHORIZATION TO WORK:
Selected candidates must be authorized to work in the United States according
to the Department of Homeland Security, United States Citizenship and
Immigration Services Regulations. Note: The State of New Jersey does not
provide sponsorships for citizenships to the United States.
Note: Completion of at least 3 years of
undergraduate education in economics and environmental science and policy is required. Graduate level coursework in these areas is
preferred.
