Dear Undergraduate Program Directors,
Message from Lily Young, Dean of International Programs
Dear Undergraduate Program Directors,
Kindly see this document that describes 4 courses that our partner university
(Univ. Konstanz) would like Rutgers students to attend next summer. All
courses will be taught in English. In 2012, University of Konstanz ran
a summer Limnology course for Rutgers SEBS students only (for 2014,
courses are open to other students as well). The students who attended
in 2012 gave it high praise for both the science and the locale. You
can see their blogs at
First,
please let your students know about this so that they can begin
thinking about next summer, and encourage them to consider this
opportunity. Also be sure to let them know that we provide summer
scholarships. The cost of the courses are still being determined and we
will transmit that information as soon as we know. What I can say,
however, is that in 2012, the course expenses were far below the usual
costs for a summer program of this duration and intensity.
Second,
if the courses are relevant to your curriculum, please consider them
for their suitability to substitute for a required course on campus.
This can also make it more attractive for the students. As described,
there are daily lectures and daily lab/field/research activities over
the 6 week period. This totals 45 hours of lecture and approximately 60
hours of lab.
It is hard to imagine a nicer
way to spend 6 weeks next summer! Please spread the word. As always,
send any student or queries to Megan Francis or me. We are eager to
help your students leave the country……..!
Regards,
Lily
