Position Title: Stewardship Department Specialist

Reports To: Vice President for Stewardship
Job Classification: Full Time, Regular, 40 hour week
Job Description: New Jersey Audubon’s mission is focused on fostering environmental awareness and a
conservation ethic among NJ's citizens; protecting NJ's birds, mammals, other animals, and plants, especially
endangered and threatened species; and promoting the preservation of NJ's valuable natural habitats. Towards
this end NJ Audubon’s Stewardship Department implements projects and programs that are central to achieving
this mission. With staff based in key locations in northern and southern New Jersey, the Stewardship
Department is working with public and private landowners, state and local government and private industry to
manage habitat and conserve wildlife resources.
The Stewardship Department Specialist will support a variety of program delivery aspects within the
Stewardship Department. Reporting to the Vice President for Stewardship, the Program Support Specialist will
assist with department level administrative tasks including: project tracking and reporting, budgeting, property
record keeping, support for program areas including the Important Bird Areas Program, the Corporate
Stewardship Council, ecological forestry initiatives, and will assist with tracking donor relationships and
implementation of fundraising events. In addition, a primary responsibility of the Stewardship Department
Specialist will involve coordination of the Support Agricultural Viability and the Environment (S.A.V.E.) program,
principally the production and sales of bird houses, feeders and sunflower seed. The S.A.V.E. initiative
promotes economically and ecologically sustainable agricultural products while funding habitat restoration work.
Major Responsibilities:
Perform general administrative duties, correspondence, schedule meetings, prepare invoices and
documentation, research and prepare materials etc.;
Assist with department budget and accounting;
Assist with grant and project management, reporting and time accounting;
Assist with development related activities and events, donor cultivation and support;
Work with the HR Department to process employee paperwork;
Assist with the management of property records, files and tax related documents for NJA unstaffed
sanctuaries; assist with new property acquisitions; assist with the management of current sanctuary
network;
Assist with facilities management, including the Wattles Stewardship Center;
Act as a key point of contact for stewardship department and particularly the S.A.V.E. program;
Build relationships with current and new retailers throughout New Jersey and in neighboring states;
support sales targets at NJ Audubon center stores. Coordinate delivery of products to retailers;
Coordinate S.A.V.E. product production and supply chain;
Participates with other NJ Audubon staff to adopt a “team” approach towards daily operations at the
assigned center.
Knowledge and Skills
Motivated self-starter who is a team player and has a desire to make an immediate contribution;
Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills, including the ability to accept direction and constructive
criticism;
Excellent communication skills, oral and written;
Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office) to fulfill job requirements; graphics capable a plus;
Excellent organizational, time and project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects and
shifting priorities;
Ability to relate to and motivate a diverse range of people;
Strong professionalism and work ethic.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum three years of experience with program and project management;
administrative experience;
Experience, knowledge of, background in, and/or interest in the sciences, natural resources, agriculture,
forestry or related field will be helpful;
Flexibility to adjust hours to meet deadlines and special needs of the organization;
Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces and lift up to 50 lbs;
Must be willing to travel in the State of New Jersey. This requires a reliable vehicle and a valid New
Jersey Driver’s License;

Program Planner Position

Organization
The Delaware Division of Energy and Climate
is seeking a highly motivated individual to support programs
administrated through the Climate Section. The position will
support innovative climate mitigation and adaptation
initiatives such as the Delaware Clean Cities Program and the
Delaware Heat Health Warning System. This one-year position
will work approximately 37.5 hours a week and be located in
the Delaware Division of Energy and Climate in Dover, DE.
The Delaware Division of Energy and Climate
is a fast-paced, innovative office, committed to delivering
energy efficiency and conservation programs to the State of
Delaware, as well as developing climate change policies to
reduce emissions and protect Delaware’s communities and
critical resources from the impacts of climate change.
The incumbent will serve as support staff
in the Division of Energy and Climate. The applicant should
have academic or work experience in climate change,
transportation/environment projects, public health, outreach
and education, coordination of diverse stakeholders, community
building, and/or program/project management. Applicants with
undergraduate and/or graduate degrees are encouraged to
apply. Preference will be given to applicants with both work
experience and a graduate degree.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will support senior staff to
administer the Delaware Clean Cities Coalition and coordinate
deployment of the Delaware Heat Health Warning System.
Additional programs may be added to the portfolio based on the
Climate Section priorities. General responsibilities include:

The incumbent will represent the Climate
Section in meetings and at events. They will also serve as a
liaison for our programs throughout the State. Other
responsibilities may include development of websites,
developing directories of programs and contacts, as well as
other projects.
Clean Cities Coalition:
The Delaware Clean Cities Coalition assists
the State of Delaware to reduce petroleum usage, reduce
greenhouse gas emissions, deploy alternative fueled vehicles,
and promote fuel saving and transportation technologies. The
Clean Cities Coalition currently works with a diverse set of
transportation stakeholders.
Responsibilities will include assisting the
Coordinator to complete deliverables as required by federal
grant requirements; complete research on alternative fuels and
infrastructure; build relationships with and recruit new
Coalition members; maintain communications with Coalition
members; and participate and coordinate in meetings.
Heat Health Warning System:
The Delaware Heat Health Warning System
(HHWS) is a sophisticated forecasting system designed to
protect Delawareans from heat, which is often considered the
“silent killer.” Starting this summer, the HHWS will be used
by the National Weather Service to call specific heat warnings
and advisories for the three Delaware counties. The HHWS is
only part of the effort to save lives during extreme heat
events. Communities need to develop intervention activities to
make certain that vulnerable populations are aware that a
warning has been called, and to instruct them how to avoid
heat illness and death during extreme heat.
Responsibilities will include coordinating
with multiple stakeholders at different levels of government
and within community groups; researching and cataloging
existing cooling programs; organizing educational events;
recommending intervention activities; and developing
evaluation frameworks for implementation activities.
Qualifications
The applicant will have the following
experience and attributes:

Possession of an
undergraduate and/or graduate degree in climate sciences or
policy, earth sciences, natural resources, law, environmental
studies, environment or energy policy, land use planning,
economics or related field is preferred.
·
Work experience in a
professional job and/or internship is preferred.
·
Ability to work
effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of
stakeholders including but not limited to: elected officials,
citizens, private industry, and others.
·
Strong written and
verbal communication skills; a strong writer with excellent
interpersonal and public speaking skills.
·
Preferred training in
climate science and/or climate change policy.
·
Demonstrated ability to
be organized, detail-oriented, independent worker, and
reliable.
·
Excellent time
management skills and the ability to work on multiple projects
with varying deadlines.
·
Proficient computer

Compensation
37.5 hours/week are available for up to one
