Rutgers has just approved a minor in sustainability that is open to all majors at SEBS.  Environmental science majors will probably have completed some of the requirements already.  Program requirements are here.  For more information, contact Rebecca Jordan.

Peoples Climate March on 9/21

Hi, my name is Gary Conger and I'm an Econ student trying to save the world.  (flyer attached)

I'm writing today to ask for your help to engage your students and encourage them to take a stand and take action to be and create the change they wish to see in the world. I'm asking you to help me get the the word out about us joining 10,000s of people including the Sustainability Alliance of CGHR, students, professors, scientists, religious leaders, politicians, and concerned parents across the world to the Peoples Climate March on 9/ 21.

Peoples Climate March- the goal is to show Obama and other world leaders like Ban Ki Moon the power of the people is stronger than the campaign financing of fossil fuel companies and we are taking our future back.  We will Innovate and Demand Effective Solutions to Mitigate Global Warming  (carbon tax)(renewable energy/ efficiency investments)(electric cars)(Subsidy shifts)(less meat, less plastic more trains)(ext...)

This is the fight of our generation and we have a chance to be part of the "Biggest Climate March in History," But I need you.  I know your students listen to you, deep down you know they trust you and I can only pass out so many flyers.

So I'm asking for you to forward them the flyer I've attached and speak to them about climate change, speak to them about the importance of protests similar to the PCM affecting change you hve seen in your lifetime, and please speak to them about the need to take an active role in shaping the world we live in. Then join us, as we continue to shift to a more sustainable economy.

The Center for Global Education is now accepting Winter and Spring 2015 study abroad applications. The deadline to apply online is October 1, 2014.   To learn more about the study abroad program offerings please attend a study abroad info session or visit our website http://globaleducation.rutgers.edu/.  Please see the full schedule below and remember to Save the Date for the Study Abroad Fair on Monday, September 22^nd  from 3:30-6:30 at the Rutgers Student Center.

Info sessions will cover the general application process, from selecting the right study abroad program for a student’s major to securing scholarship/funding for the program. We encourage interested students to start planning early by attending one of our events.

2 Major Events for your students to attend this week!

Two-day Fall Career & Internship Mega Fair  (Different Employers Each Day)
Thursday, September 11 and Friday, September 12 from 12-5 pm
Sonny Werblin Recreation Center on the Busch Campus

This event is the largest career and internship fair of fall being offered by University Career Services. The Mega Fair replaces the Engineering and Computer Science and the Business, Mathematics, and Liberal Arts Fairs of last fall.

All majors are welcome! Recruiters are hiring for technical and non-technical fields for internship, part-time, and full-time positions.

No pre-registration is required; however, we do ask that you bring your student ID and dress business professional.

• 130 employers state they are hiring from ALL MAJORS
• 172 employers are looking to hire interns or students interested in PT work (great for underclassmen)
• 263 are also trying to fill FT positions
• 154 are open to hiring students with advanced degrees (great for graduate students)
• 86 employers are willing to sponsor visas! (great for international students)

Fund For The Public Interest Internships

Dear Professor,

 My name is Michael Bralow and I am currently a Campaign and Recruitment Director for the Fund For The Public Interest. We are a national non-profit that runs grassroots campaigns. We work in partnership with groups like USPIRG, Environment America, Fairshare, and the Human Rights Campaign, on some of the most pressing Environmental and Social Justice Issues facing the United States. 
        
        Right now we are working in partnership with Environment New Jersey to protect our Shore, by closing serious loopholes in the Clean Water Act. Later in the year we will be partnering with NJPIRG (New Jersey Public Interest Research Group) to protect against the rise in antibiotic resistant infections by reducing the use of antibiotics on factory farms. 
        
        Every year we hire thousands of College students across the country for our campaign staff. We offer both Full-Time and Part-Time Positions. Our New Brunswick office is staffing up right now and we are looking to fill it with the brightest young minds around, so naturally I am reaching out to Rutgers Professors.  Some of the best ways for us to find the great candidates that I know Rutgers has to offer, is by having professors email our announcement to their students, or posting it on a group message boards. If you could please email your students with the blurb below, it would be greatly appreciated.
